The project includes hydraulic dredging of approximately 8,000 cubic yards in situ of pond muck (a mixture of silt and water) from Farwell Mill Pond, dewatering the muck, returning the supernatant water to the pond or other local waterway, and site restoration. The Village of Farwell reserves the right to accept any bid, reject any or all bids, to waive informalities and make the award in any manner deemed in the best interest of the Village. Bidder shall submit all questions about the meaning or intent of the Bidding Documents to Engineer in writing. Question Deadline 07/18/2023 The project includes dredging approximately 8,000 cubic yards of pond muck (a mixture of silt and water) from the Farwell Mill Pond. The specific dredging area boundaries and the existing top-of-muck and final pond-bottom elevations are shown in the drawings. The dredging work will utilize the hydraulic dredging method. Dredged material will be transported to a temporary dewatering staging area, which is located southwest of the Pere Marquette Multi-Purpose Trail parking lot (located on the south side of the Pere Marquette Trail and on the west side of Vandecar St). Dredged material may be transported to the dewatering area via pumping through temporary transport pipes, or hauling if approved by the Owner or Engineer. Dredged material will be dewatered onsite and dewatered for as long of duration as needed for it to attain a high enough solids content to be transported and land-applied effectively and to not excessively burden transportation and land-application work. Supernatant water will be discharged back to the Farwell Mill Pond. The contract provides until May 2024 for drying of dredge spoils after dredging operations are complete, as outlined in the agreement. Removal, transportation, and placement of dredge spoils at the WWTF Site, removal of geotextile bag, and debris from the site is the responsibility of the Contractor. After these items are removed from the site, the Contractor is responsible for site restoration including backfilling, raking, placing topsoil and seed, and restoring gravel surfaces as necessary.
