The City of Moncton invites Indigenous artists or artist teams within Canada to submit a statement of qualifications to design, fabricate and install permanent artwork that will be on display near the exterior public entrance to the new Codiac Regional Policing Facility (CRPF), located in Moncton, New Brunswick. This opportunity is a two-stage competition being held in accordance with the City of Moncton's Public Art Policy, which requires that every new municipal building include a public art piece, valued at one percent (1%) of the building's construction cost, up to a maximum of two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000.00). The goal of this public art competition is to ensure that there is an expression of the community in or around the CRPF facility, that enhances the aesthetic ambiance of the location, its proximity to the Petitcodiac Riverfront area, and attests to the City's commitment to the arts. This is an exterior commission for contemporary, permanent, functional, or conceptual public artwork which can be interactive. Concepts which reflect the use of local and sustainable materials will be given preference. The City encourages Proponents to tell a story and consult with the local Mi'kmaq communities in order to develop their proposal response. Artist teams must include at least one (1) Indigenous artist. One (1) artist or one (1) team will be selected to create an artistic piece for the CRPF facility. Proponents considered eligible to bid must also meet the following minimum eligibility requirements: (a) Proponents must be comprised of a single Indigenous artist, or an artist team which includes at least one (1) Indigenous artist. (b) Artists must reside within Canada (c) Demonstrated experience in completing a significant public art piece within the last five (5) year period (d) Can provide a minimum of two (2) client references for whom they have completed significant public art projects
