This project involves the removal and/or replacement of existing, missing or faded Traffic Striping, Markings and/or Symbols, Painting on top and side of curb, Striping beside fire hydrants and the application of new Traffic Striping, Markings and/or Symbols, on various streets within the City of Jersey City. This project includes both routine maintenance and reconfiguration of roadway cross sections for improvements including, but not limited to, lane removal, addition, and bike lane installation. Projects involving reconfiguration of roadway cross sections for bike lane installation will have the potential for a performance based bonus detailed under Schedule of Prices. The Engineer will direct the contractor as to where the work will be performed and will guarantee at least a days worth of work. The contractor shall be responsible for all necessary maintenance and protection of traffic during construction. The cost of Mobilization and traffic control shall be included in the bid prices. Work will only be performed when the weather conditions are conducive to thermoplastic application (ambient and substrate temperature 40 degrees Fahrenheit and rising, for at least 6 hours after application). Proposals must be accompanied by a Bid Bond or Certified Check, made payable to the City of Jersey City, in an amount equal to Ten (10%) percent of the Bid. The Bond, required for the faithful performance of the Contract, shall be in such sum equal to One Hundred Percent (100%) of the Total Contract Price. The Purchasing Agent reserves the right to reject any and all proposals received, or portions thereof, if deemed to be in the best interest of the City to do so.
