Remove pitched roof and re-establish historic barrel roof; Replacing/ upgrading all major mechanical systems including electrical, plumbing, heating and air, and fire protection; Demolition/Removal CMU window infill, ceilings, doors, floorings, and fixtures; Reconstituting all exterior windows for entire facility; Performing environmental abatement as needed; Renovating existing corridors, classrooms, restrooms, weight training room, stage, storage areas, lobby, and offices with new paint, flooring, ceiling, light fixtures, doors and specialty fixtures; Reconfiguring/ refinishing gymnasium floor; Rehabilitating existing historic bleacher seating; Establishing a pronounced exterior façade with welcoming entry, storefront glass doors, windows, and code-compliant points of egress; Add exterior masonry material to CMU located on front elevation to provide cohesive exterior finish; Construct sidewalks around the side of gym to connect points of egress and to parking; Design and install art throughout the facility paying homage to Oconee High School and its alumni and staff, ensuring its story lives on. The school closed upon integration in 1970 and the gymnasium, known locally as "The Oconee Gym," now serves as an indoor recreation and cultural event facility as a part of Dublin's Oconee Park, a 15-acre area open green space featuring a playground, baseball and football fields, and a recently upgraded outdoor basketball court. The successful implementation of the Oconee Gym Renovation Project will deliver a fully renovated facility, providing new, high-quality recreation opportunities, including basketball, weight-training, martial arts, group fitness classes, health and wellness education classes, and mentorship programs.
