Burnaby General Hospital is one of the four major sites within the Fraser Health Authority region. There was no automation line installed at the Chemistry laboratory in this site before. Desired outcome of this project is to improve the efficiency of the Chemistry laboratory. The scope includes infrastructure changes necessary for the new chemistry, IA analyzers and automation line, to be installed by vendor. The goal is to renovate current facility infrastructure, including data, electrical, mechanical and architectural components, to prepare the space for the installation of automation line with new analyzers. The project should proceed without creating any downtime to the current lab operations and to minimize the impact to workflow and staff wellbeing. As the lab at Burnaby General Hospital operates 24 hours and 7 days a week, this project will be implemented in phases to minimize disruption to the operations. Scheduled must be allowance for analyzer installation by vendor in temporary or permanent locations and validation of the analyzers across phases as required and outlined herein. Furniture, fixtures and equipment will be reused where possible with new items as identified on the drawings. The estimated construction budget for this project is $500,000 and the estimated construction duration including allowance for analyzer moves, installation and validation by the vendor, is 6 months commencing at the beginning of June 2023.
