This project will provide for the future infrastructure improvements along Wesley Parkway, between I-29 and Hamilton Boulevard. The roadway portion of this project is complete. Remaining infrastructure includes the traffic signal installations at the Bluff Street and Omaha Street intersections, as well as other infrastructure work. Traffic signalization will be needed at these two intersections to facilitate traffic flow along the Bluff Street and Omaha Street corridors within this district. The traffic signal installations are programmed for $250,000 each. Also, included in the unprogrammed amount is a project that includes the relocation of the 8th Street power lines (Bluff St. to Sioux St.) to the alleyway behind the 8th Street businesses at an estimated cost of $500,000. A recent review of traffic crashes at these intersections showed a significant number of crashes at the Wesley Way and Omaha/W. 14th Street. We have inserted $40,000 to complete an engineering study to determine if a traffic signal is warranted or other traffic modifications should be completed to reduce crashes at this intersection. The relocation of the major overhead power lines along 8th Street coincides with redevelopment plans along Wesley Parkway. The existing location of the 8th Street power lines restricts property expansion along 8th Street and Wesley Parkway along the Bluff Street - Sioux Street corridors. With planned redevelopment along this corridor, traffic projections show that traffic flow will increase significantly and impact conditions at the Wesley Parkway/Omaha Street and Wesley Parkway/Bluff Street intersections. To address the safety and capacity impacts resulting from this increased flow, traffic signalization will be needed at these two Wesley Parkway intersections. Traffic conditions will be monitored to assess signalization needs at these intersections. This project is included in the fy 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program. As of May 25, 2023, further details regarding design and construction timelines have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available. As of August 22, 2023, no new information available
