Phase 1 of the Government Center Remodeling project includes the Police Lobby and the City Hall lobby on both first and second floors. The project will move Utility Billing and Reception/mailroom to the first floor, changing the Community Development counter to face the lobby, adding bathrooms to the first floor, adding office space to Community Development by removing a portion of the Police Department lobby, expanding Human Resorces into the former Utility Billing space, reducing the size of the meeting room on the second floor to add a small second floor lobby, add an office for Information Sytem staff, building a secure set of stairs off the Police Department lobby from floor one to floor three, removal of the existing stairs in the Police lobby, and upgrading the two entrance doors. The remodeling will incorporate safety measures for the building by restricting access to the second floor and by providing glass barriers for those serving the public. The project will also create two separate areas for police and the general public by creating two distinct entrances to the building and separating the interior. As of October 20, 2023, this project is included in the Capital Improvement Plan for FY2023-2027. Construction was estimated to start January 1, 2023 with completion November 3, 2025. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
