As of August 9, 2023, the Segment 4D South has been postponed until October 2023. The Highway 101: Montecito Project (Segment 4D South) is the continuation of the fourth of five Segments that will improve the Highway 101 corridor between Carpinteria and Santa Barbara, CA. This segment is 0.2-mile North of Sheffield Drive undercrossing to 0.3-mile South of San Ysidro Road overcrossing in Montecito, Santa Barbara County, California. This is a Caltrans job 05-0N74V but is not advertised on the Caltrans website. Granite Construction has been awarded the Caltrans Preconstruction Services Contract and anticipates a contract to serve as the General Contractor. Estimated Project Size: 65 million Estimated DBE Goal: 23% CM is signatory to Operating Engineers, Laborers, Teamsters, Cement Masons and Carpenters Unions. ******************* From earlier solicitation: Segments 4D and 4E include interior and exterior widening, multiple bridge replacements over creeks, and reconstruction of one interchange (at Cabrillo Boulevard). These segments are the most challenging portions of the corridor with regards to design, cost estimates, and construction readiness, and require additional engagement with the City and County of Santa Barbara to clarify the scope from the DPD process. Additionally, there are three parallel projects in Segments 4D and 4E that will require close coordination with the Project in order to advance the two segments' construction readiness, and to clarify any required coastal permitting processes.
