Fairfax County is soliciting pre-bid qualification applications for the construction of multiple Stormwater construction projects at various locations, including stream restoration and outfall retrofits. The projects will be advertised for bid individually. The bid schedule will depend upon funding availability. The estimated cost of the individual construction projects is anticipated to be in the range of $2,000,000 to $4,000,000. Approved pre-qualification applications shall be valid for one year from notification date. If any of the stream restoration projects included in this invitation are not advertised for bid within this timeframe, Fairfax County will issue a new invitation for pre-qualification. Only firms that have been pre-qualified in accordance with the procedures in this Pre-qualification Application will be eligible to submit bids for these projects. Bids received from those who have not been pre-qualified will not be considered. The project will restore approximately 4,468 linear along two unnamed tributaries to Colvin Run within Lake Fairfax Park in Fairfax County, Virginia. The existing channels have varying depth, with channel incision and undercut banks. The project will reestablish a stable natural flooding regime, placing a reinforced bed where necessary to prevent future incision, installing rock structures for stabilization of the bed and banks as well as energy dissipation and bank protection. Reach 1 will be restored using debris jams and beaver dam analogs, sourced from varying sizes of on-site woody material, and installed within the existing channel without realignment and bank grading. Floodplain-wide grade control structures will be strategically placed to inhibit floodplain erosion while several structures with clay cores will be present to further encourage backwatering. All questions concerning this Pre-qualification Application procedure shall be submitted in writing to the Utilities Design and Construction Division as outlined on the Application instructions. The Board of Supervisors of Fairfax County, Virginia reserves the right to reject any and all Applications, and to waive informalities and irregularities in the Pre-qualification Application procedure.
