The Town of Readfield seeks proposals from qualified firms to complete exterior and interior work at the Readfield Library. The work will generally include replacement of the existing front access stairs and ramp, the installation of a new second floor egress door and stairs; and repairs to one room on the second floor to make it a usable space. Proposals will be considered for individual project components, but preference will be given to complete proposals including all three project areas. The scope of work for this project includes two defined elements and one that will be approached on a time and materials basis. Second Floor Egress - The Town is requesting the installation of an emergency exit door on the south-west corner of the second floor of the building and emergency exit stairs from that point. Materials may vary but there is a strong preference for metal stairs in this location to reduce maintenance. The side door shown is not used / functional. Front Stairs and Access Ramp - The Town is requesting a functional replacement for the existing access. The stairs and ramp are pressure treated lumber but replacement materials may vary. Proper footings will need to be installed. ADA access compliance is required. Second Floor Room Repairs - The Town is requesting wall and ceiling repairs to the north-west room on the second floor, either through demolition and remodeling or through repair and covering of the existing surfaces.
