As of March 14, 2023, the project has been awarded. A timeline for construction has not been confirmed. GENERAL WORK DESCRIPTION: The work includes but is not necessarily limited to lowering and adjusting utility frame and covers on various City streets and in Caltrans right of way to facilitate cold planning and hot-mix-asphalt paving under a separate Caltrans contract according to the construction schedule of that paving contract. That work shall include at a minimum: provide traffic control public notification; coordination with Caltrans and with Caltrans contractor; roadway preparation protecting in place existing facilities to remain; lowering and adjusting of utility frames and covers to finished surface; clean-up and related work as required; all necessary storm water pollution control program work; furnishing all materials, labor tools, and equipment needed to complete the work in accordance with the contract documents, including but not limited to these Special Provisions, including plan exhibits, referenced standards and specifications, the Standard Plans (2012 edition) and Specifications For Public Works Construction (Green book) 2015 edition, and the City Standard Requirements. Engineer Estimated Cost: $60,000 to $100,000 BONDS: Each proposal must be accompanied by cash, a certified or cashier check, or bidder bond of the prescribed form and made payable to the City of Lompoc for an amount equal to at least ten percent (10%) of the amount bid, such guaranty to be forfeited, should the bidder to whom the contract is awarded fail to furnish the required bonds and to enter into a contract with the City within the period of time provided by the Proposal Requirements. In accordance with provisions of California Public Contract Code Section 3300, the City has determined that the Contractor shall possess a valid Class A or C-8 or C-34 License at the time of award. The Contractor shall be properly licensed at the time the contract is awarded. No contract will be awarded from a Contractor who has not been licensed in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 9 of Division 3 of the Business and Professions Code. CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE: The City anticipates awarding and executing the contract in early March2023, and holding the pre-construction meeting and issuing Notice to Proceed in late March 2023. The issuance of Notice to Proceed and the dates required for beginning and completing utility adjustmentswill depend upon Caltrans schedule for cold planing and paving.
