As of August 2023, the project is in design development and there is no timeline for completed construction documents. The education program to occupy the CSTT facility is the Electromechanical Technology (ELMT) program, the facility is to provide new lab and office space. The ELMT program is currently operating in a 813 sq ft building. This space is not sufficient to hold the large equipment and the number of students interested in the program. Enrollment exceeds the space dimensions recommended for CTE programs. The location of the CSTT building will be an addition located along MCC's existing Cottonwood Hall's main east entry and to serve as a catalyst for future improvements both within and surrounding Cottonwood and the CSTT building. The CSTT addition Is 4,862 GSF and houses flexible laboratory spaces, equipment and general storages, faculty offices, cafe counter, and building systems support spaces. The lab spaces are to be designed to support multiple purposes and layouts. The space should provide opportunity to serve diverse groups simultaneously. The curriculum includes both lecture and hands on learning through a variety of training equipment that includes live electricity and natural gas. The project delivery method will be design/bid/build. The project budget is $5.2 million and inclusive of a $4.3 million construction budget. The project will be funded through an approved grant, a Capital Development Campaign, and college reserves. The project will proceed once spending authority is received in 2023 with design and construction completing in late 2024. Minimum requirements for this project include a license to practice architecture in Colorado and completion of two (2) projects of similar scope and complexity. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this Time.
