Request for interpretation/questions/equivalents must be submitted in writing via OpenGov on or before Thursday, August 17, 2023. All responses will be posted in OpenGov. The County of Volusia, Department of Public Works, Division of Engineering and Construction is seeking a single, responsive and responsible bidder to provide engineering, permitting and construction services for building renovations for flood mitigation at the Volusia County City Island Library located at 105 East Magnolia Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida. The lowest responsive and responsible Bidder shall be responsible for all applicable permitting, labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, services, and incidentals necessary to complete all Work required by the specifications and as shown on the drawings. Term: Total contract time: 270 days The Project consists of the alteration of the perimeter of the existing library to provide and install permanent glass flood barriers (storefront system), a pedestrian flood door, and a waterproof epoxy coating with a paint topcoat adjacent to the flood control systems as required. a. Doors and windows included in this project are W6, W10, W11, and D18 as indicated on the drawings. b. Scope of work is summarized below and further detailed on drawings: 1) The Contractor shall provide for electrical work required for the project including but not limited to the following: Removal and reconnection/relocation of access control hardware, disconnection and reconnection of alarm systems, disconnection reinstallation/relocation of power outlets, and extension of power and data to the new flood control assemblies, engineering, permitting and material testing, and ADA door operator and controls. 2) Contractor shall also provide for the flood door testing indicated in the contract documents (drawings and specifications). 3) SECTION 02 41 00 DEMOLITION: Selective demolition and Removal of existing storefront assemblies, doors, and frames and preparation of rough openings for installation of new permanent flood barriers. Salvage, Removal and replacement of access control devices. Selective Demolition of walls, ceilings and flooring as required to accommodate new construction. Installation of new walls, ceilings and flooring adjacent to new permanent flood barriers and related appurtenances as required. The project also includes the demolition of a coiling door assembly and installation of a pedestrian flood door assembly at the removed coiling door location. The Work is generally, described in following scope activities: 1) Removal and replacement of existing aluminum storefronts with automatic sliding doors with new prefinished, aluminum/ glass flood barrier storefront assemblies featuring push button operated ADA swing doors and finish hardware per the construction documents. Salvage, reuse and rewire of existing Gallagher access control devices is included in the work. 2) Though the bid is titled storefront renovation, we call attention the fact that stainless steel flood doors are also included in the work. Generally described as removal and replacement of existing roll-up door with new stainless steel, primed and painted, pedestrian flood doors, frame & finish hardware per the construction documents. Salvage, reuse and rewire of existing Gallagher access control device is included in the work. 3) Application of epoxy waterproofing and exterior paint installed on the exterior walls of the library as indicated on the construction documents. 4) Allowance for flooring: This allowance is an amount not to exceed. During construction, the contractor will open book show quote for amount of flooring depicted on construction documents. Should the County decide to increase the square footage of flooring replacement, a proposal request would be issued to obtain quote from contractor for the additional square footage. Compensation drawn from the allowance. 5) Add Alternate #1: See drawing sheet AA-101 for location. Removal and replacement of existing aluminum storefront assemblies at windows W2 and W3 with new prefinished, aluminum/ glass flood barrier storefront assemblies and finish hardware per the construction documents. Salvage, reuse and rewire of existing Gallagher access control devices is included in the work..
