Plans call for a new state-run veterans nursing home in Horry County. The facility is expected to hold about 100 beds, though the exact size and scale of the project is still undetermined as the project is still in the early stages of planning. The facility is to be built along S.C. Highway 90 outside Conway. The County purchased a 72-acre site for the facility in May 2023, located at the intersection of SC 90 and Old Altman Road. Per the county, as of October 23, 2023, the VA is doing the design on the project. The county states that the design has been pre-approved and they are waiting on funding to complete the project, which could take another two-five years. *Project information, including timeline and contacts, has been obtained through public sources.
