SCOPE OF WORK: The Signal Head Replacements and Retroreflective Backplates Project (Project), in accordance with the Highway Safety Improvement Program, Project Identification H10- 07-033, consists of removing and replacing 78 8 traffic signal heads with 12 traffic signal heads with new framework, and either 1) installing high visibility retroreflective tape, or 2) installing backplates with pre-installed retroreflective tape, both on 448 traffic signal heads. The location of the Project will be at 30 major signalized intersections on Alamo Street, Cochran Street, Easy Street, Los Angeles Avenue, Madera Road, Royal Avenue, and Wood Ranch Parkway. The designs for the Project have been completed in-house. The expected completion date of this project is 210 consecutive calendar days after receipt of the second Notice to Proceed. This second Notice to Proceed shall be defined as the Notice to Proceed given following successful acquisition of the parts and equipment necessary to carry out the work. Bidders shall provide a properly executed Bidders Bond (contained herein), cashiers check or other bidders security payable to the City of Simi Valley to accompany the Proposal in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the total bid. The bidder to whom the Contract is awarded (Contractor) shall execute the Contract and furnish a surety bond in the amount of 100% of the Contract price guaranteeing the faithful performance of the Contract. The Contractor shall furnish a surety bond by an admitted surety in the amount of 100% of the Contract price to secure the payment of claims for materials and labor provided by others in performing the work. Bidders are hereby notified that pursuant to the provisions of the California Labor Code the California Department of Industrial Relations has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem wages and the general prevailing rate for legal holiday and overtime work in the locality in which this work is to be performed for each craft, classification or type of worker needed to execute the Contract. Such wage scale is set forth at length in a Schedule of Prevailing Rates of Wages that is on file at the California Department of Industrial Relations and is available at website.
