Construction of drainage projects applied for under Section 123 of the Drainage Act, RSO 1990, c. D17 in Northern Ontario. Currently, two applications for a drainage project have been submitted to the Ministry. The applications on hand are in the District of Timiskaming. It is anticipated, but not guaranteed, that the Ministry will receive additional applications for drainage projects over the course the Agreement. TIMELINE: RFB has issued a Request from Engineering services for drainage assistance in unorganized territorial districts for Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. RFB is issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to select a preferred Bidder who will design and supervise construction, the submissions are under review. Timeframe for an award is undetermined. Under Section 123 of the Drainage Act, rural landowners located within the Unorganized Territorial Districts of Ontario can apply for provincial aid for drainage assistance. A project, such as this, requires engineering services for design of the project and supervision of construction. The design phase requires the Preferred Bidder to develop a proposal and an assessment report. Once the Preferred Bidder's report is complete, the Ministry Drainage Coordinator will review and decide on whether or not to proceed with the construction phase of the project. If a decision to proceed with construction is made, then the Preferred Bidder will supervise the construction phase. A separate competition for the construction phase will be put out by the Ministry for tender to construction contractors (including those recommended by the Preferred Bidder), and the Ministry will select a contractor through the competitive process. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this time.
