Metal building with concrete tipping floor and recessed truck well for scales was constructed in 1998-99. The current transfer station was designed for a maximum of 250 tons per day. These limits are frequently exceeded and with a strong economy the building is full on a daily basis. Per EPD permit, the tipping floor is required to be cleared on a daily basis. This CIP will provide plans in FY2022 and begin construction in FY2023. Current estimate is approximately $3,000,000. Full funding to be obtained through a GEFA loan or revenue bonds and repaid by a combination of 2019 SPLOST ($1,000,000) and the remainder from operating income beginning in FY2023. Project is included City of Statesboro FY 2023 - 2028 Budget CIP. As of November 3, 2022, a design team has not been identified and a construction timeline has not been established. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
