Phase 2 is the enlargement of 4.5 km of existing TID canals from Horsefly Reservoir to Taber Lake, and construction of a wetland at Taber Lake. Phase 3 is the enlargement of 3.9 km of existing SMRID canals from the SMRID Main Canal to Horsefly Reservoir and construction of a wetland at the inlet to Horsefly Reservoir. After all three phases are complete 55 m3 /s will be diverted from the SMRID Main Canal to the Oldman River during storm events. TIMELINE: Engineering design is underway. Construction of phase 1 is about 60% complete.(project followed separately). Tender for construction of phase 3 may be issued in fall 2023 pending final approvals. Total cost for Phase 1 has been estimated at just over $22 million. Future phases of this project are being followed separately. Contributions include $7.4 million through the Alberta Communities Resiliency Program (ACRP) Fund by the Province of Alberta and $8.8 million through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) by the Government of Canada.
