The City of Waltham requests Proposals (RFP) for design services from experienced design consultants to design a new Roof at Veterans Memorial Rink at 295 Totten Pond Road, Waltham, MA 02451 Last day for Written Questions: Wednesday September 14th, 2022 by Noon (Via email only to cphilpott@city.waltham.ma.us ) Notice to Proceed: A written communication from the Purchasing Agent of the City of Waltham directing the Designer to perform services for the particular phase of the Project as set forth in such communication. All proposals are subject to funding. The City reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals and to make awards as it determines to be in the best interest of the City. The Veterans Memorial Rink is a State-owned establishment that is Leased to the City of Waltham. As part of their Lease, we are required to replace the entire Roof by August 1st, 2023. Renovations can begin in April 2023. There were some structural modifications in 2016 to reinforce the trusses and the roof structure predates the state building code. The City of Waltham is seeking proposals for professional services to Design a new Roof at Veterans Memorial Rink. Said services are to be performed by Massachusetts licensed architectural firm, engineer and/or licensed independent contractor. Work involves the main Shingle rink roof only. The flat roofs above the support functions of the rink are not part of the scope and were recently repaired in the Spring of 2022. Remove existing roofing material and underlayment material to expose the existing structural deck. Assume a quantity of wood trim board replacement at the eave and rake edges of the roof. Insulation: Section C101.4.3 of the Energy Code requires compliance with the code and insulation. The existing structure will need to be inspected and the allowable depth (weight) of new insulation will need to be determined. Structural report will be required to comply with International Existing Building Code. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
