The Old Courthouse is a two-story stone structure with a garden level basement constructed of locally quarried dressed and rusticated stones. Horizontal 12" dressed stone bands exist at the water table directly above the basement ceiling. Below the band, dressed stones are laid in a linear pattern with horizontal and vertical ribbon mortar joints. Above the banding the rusticated rubble stones are laid in a coursed pattern with grapevine mortar joints. The corners of the building have rusticated, squared quoins of differing sizes. The sills and arched headers of the windows are dressed stone. The windows were double hung throughout the building, but some were later modified into casement windows. The original first floor doors still exist and are over 2" thick. The doors may have been modified through the years, since older photos appear to show glass in the panels of the doors. The vault addition is constructed of the same rubble stone and is laid in a coursed pattern with grapevine mortar joints. The exterior basement entrance is constructed with the same method. The roof was originally covered with wood shingles but was reroofed with asphalt shingles in the 1940s.'
