Development of the Area B site for construction of a new hospital building and a new central utility plant, the scope will include a new modern 9-storey, 600,000 sq ft health centre with space for over 350 private rooms. Construction of a new parking structure on site. The redeveloped health centre will increase capacity for post-acute care. The project will also involve the construction of a new parking structure as a separate early works project, construction of a standalone central utility plant, and the redevelopment of corporate services, facilities, materials management and nutrition and food services. Retaining existing hospital facilities to continue to provide high quality care to this community. TIMELINE: Owner is seeking rezoning and site plan approvals from the city of Toronto. As of January, 2022 the Holding symbol for the site has been lifted, and the scope of development is being considered by city staff. Infrastructure Ontario has issued a Request For Qualification and invited Request For Proposals for design-build proponents late 2022. Infrastructure Ontario announced that the Request for Proposals (RFP) stage has closed for the Trillium Health Partners (THP) Broader Redevelopment Queensway Health Centre project. Detailed design will proceed as part of the procurement process. The award for this phase is expected to be finalized early winter, 2023. Construction expected to commence in early 2024, pending design completion and approvals. *Schematic design was completed in 2021 by Dialog.
