As of Oct 18, 2023 the project bid came over the budget. Outline of Work: Briefly and without force and effect upon the contract documents, the work of the contract can be summarized as follows: Decommission, dismantle, demolish and dispose of all controls, machines, wiring, ropes, governors, etc at the existing Otis traction passenger elevator. Install all new machinery, controller, car & hall stations, indicators, ropes, car lighting in order to provide a modernized, code compliant, fully functional tested & inspected passenger elevator. The successful bidder shall supply the City with a Performance Bond and Labor and Material Payment Bond, each in the amount of the contract price, guaranteeing one hundred percent (100%) performance of the contract, including the guarantee period and free and clear of any and all liens, attachments and encumbrances. All bonds shall comply with the requirements of Maine state law. This bid will be awarded to the bidder that submits the lowest base bid amount. Questions must be submitted in writing to the Purchasing Office and be received no later than five business days prior to the bid due date - these may be mailed, hand delivered, faxed to 207.874.8652 or e-mailed to krc@portlandmaine.gov. For this project, the due date for questions is 12:00 noon, Wednesday, October 4, 2023. The City reserves the right to waive any informalities in bids, to accept any bid and to reject any or all bids should it be deemed for the best interest of the City to do so.
