Removal, Restoration & re-installation of all 29 historical windows on the northwest facade of the former Brown School building located at 42 Milk Street, Newburyport. Required for DCAMM contracts over $150,000, Highway Division contracts over $50,000. Questions will be received via emailed only to Andrew R. Port aport@cityofnewburyport.com through 2/23/22 @ 1:00 P.M. Prevailing wage, bid deposit of 5%, 100% Payment & Performance Bond. Full restoration of all windows shall include the following: -Remove upper and lower sash from openings (done from the inside); -Boarded openings (as noted in # 4 below); -Remove all paint from interior and exterior surfaces using steam, infrared and hand scraping - no chemical paint or finish removal; -Repair rot, weak joints, surface damage using salvage wood or epoxy as needed -Replace broken panes with antique or new glass depending on preferences; -Replace sash cords with copper dipped steel sash chain; -Clean and repair weather stripping, replace damaged pieces in kind; -Replace parting stops; -Prime and finish or paint interior (2 coats); -Prime and paint exterior (2 coats); -Install new sash locks if missing; -Clean and polish antique hardware -Replace missing or damaged hardware and/or other window elements for proper function; -Clean, wax, and re-install windows. -Window openings shall be boarded up with plywood at the time of window removals (using plywood painted black with white 9x9 grids to simulate the historical divided light pattern). -The City plans to proceed, under separate contract, and with potentially overlapping timelines, with the removal of lead paint from the exterior trim of all window openings, repainting of such trim, and installation of exterior storm windows.
