Expansion of the Russell Streetcar Facility, located at the northeast corner of Queen Street East and Connaught Avenue. The proposed scope includes extension of the Carhouse Maintenance Shop to accommodate the vehicle servicing requirements for the new Streetcar Fleet based at the Russell Streetcar Facility. The objective for the extension of the Carhouse Maintenance Shop is to accommodate an additional service track with 2 vehcile servicing positions for the new low floor accessible Bombardier streetcars. The proposed extension will be fitted with an inground vehicle hoist and overhead crane to allow servicing the new streetcars. The existing 4,178 square meters of transit building will be retained. New construction includes expansion of the carhouse by 750 square meters in building C1 and 4516 square meters in building C2. TIMELINE: The architect has completed preliminary and detailed engineering design. The owner has submitted the project to the city of Toronto for site plan approval. Tender and construction timing is expected spring, 2024. *The construction value is not confirmed at this time. *The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined.
