As of August 3, 2023, a design firm has been selected for the project. Bidding is expected to take place in August of 2023. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Professional engineering services are requested to provide investigation, design, permitting, and construction administration for the rehabilitation of the Shreve Lake Dam, including the principal spillway, discharge conduit, stilling basin, toe drain, and slope protection. Shreve Lake Dam is a Class I structure owned and operated by the ODNR Division of Wildlife, located 1.2 miles west of Shreve, Ohio. The impoundment is used for wildlife habitat, angler access, and recreational purposes. Currently, the structure does not meet established dam safety standards. Shreve Lake Wildlife Area was purchased by ODNR in 1958. In 1961, the natural marsh was enlarged with the construction of an earthen embankment and the diversion of a small stream into the lake. The 58-acre lake was filled in 1962. The dam is approximately 25.1 feet high and stores approximately 855 acre-feet of water. Spillway deficiencies and sinkholes in downstream slope of the dam were discovered in September 2014. Due to these discoveries, the pool elevation has been maintained in a drawn down state since that time. The selected firm shall use a recently completed assessment of the dam to evaluate the proposed alternatives and develop a final design to bring the dam into compliance with current regulatory requirements. The work may include replacing the existing principal spillway, discharge conduit, stilling basin, toe drain, and slope protection. In addition, design alternative analysis with consideration for both construction costs and permitting will be completed regarding the expansion of the emergency spillway versus increasing the capacity of the intake structure and discharge conduit. The selected firm shall apply for and obtain all necessary regulatory permits, assist with addressing downstream/upstream impacts and environmental issues, maintain current estimates of probable construction costs through the design phase, and assist with bidding and construction administration services. All work shall be performed in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including Ohio Dam Safety rules and regulations. Submit all questions regarding this RFQ in writing to Julie Endicott at engineering@dnr.ohio.gov with the project number included in the subject line (no phone calls please).
