This project will construct a new 41,400 ASF/69,300 GSF building (#57) to provide modern discipline-focused instructional space and associated learning commons space. The project will support Cal Maritime's Three-School Model, will address the verified need for new academic and library space, will address poor facility conditions, and will replace aging portable and temporary facilities. The building will accommodate a total of 802 FTE (802 FTE in lecture space, 86 faculty offices). The Student Services building (#16) will be demolished as part of this project to make room for the new facility and eliminate approximately $1.8 million in deferred renewal. The Classroom Building (#2) and ABS Lecture Hall (#4) will be demolished as part of a future project, resulting in a loss of 766 FTE (-762 FTE in lecture space, -4 FTE in upper division, laboratory space, -3 faculty offices). The completed project will provide a net increase of 36 FTE (40 FTE in lecture space, -4 in upper division laboratory space, 83 faculty offices). This Project is in included in the city's 2022-2026 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). Per the owner, as of August 9, 2023, this project has not been funded and has been moved down in priority. The owner states that this project is at least two years away and possibly longer. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
