As of January 10, 2024, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established. In general the project consists of retrofitting the existing suspension bridge by replacing the existing rod hangers with new cable hangers, replacement of the existing wind cables with new cables and helical anchors, strengthening the existing abutments, installation of new back span cables and helical anchors, cleaning and painting steel, disposing of lead paint, removal and replacement of wood members, and removal and repair of landscaping, decorative hardscape, curb and gutter, and HMA paving associated with the retrofit work, the installation of a composite lumber cap added to the top of the wood railing for the full length of each railing, and the installation of new chain link fabric. Contractor shall forthwith furnish in triplicate, a faithful performance bond in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price and a labor and materials bond in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price, both bonds to be written by a surety company acceptable to City and in the form prescribed by law. Project Schedule, it is understood, acknowledged and agreed that the City will suffer damage. It is therefore agreed that the Contractor shall pay to the City the sum of Three thousand and six hundred ($3,600.00) for each and every calendar day of delay beyond the Contract Time, or beyond any completion schedule, construction schedule or Project milestones established in or pursuant to the Project Schedule, or beyond the time indicated in the Project Schedule for any individual Contract activity. In accordance with the provisions of California Public Contract Code Section 3300, the City has determined that the contractor shall possess a valid Class A or B license at the time of bid issuance. Failure to possess the specified license shall render the Bid as nonresponsive and shall act as a bar to award of the Contract to any bidder not possessing said license at the time of award. In the event of dispute over classification of the license required, the opinion of the Contractor's State License Board shall prevail.
