Furnish and install a Fire Alarm Control System in the Munson Memorial Library building. Point of Contact for this project is Simone Cristofori EM: cristoforis@amherstma.gov The Munson Memorial Library, a branch of the Jones Library, occupies one wing of the Munson Memorial Building. The building was dedicated in 1930 as a memorial to Mr. Parnell Munson, fulfilling a bequest made to the Town by his wife Mrs. Mary Munson. Located on land donated to the Town by Mr. William H. Atkins, the Building is composed of multiple uses which include: meeting rooms, the library, and a large community hall. The Munson Memorial Library Building is located at 1046 South East Street in Amherst MA and is approximately 8,000 square feet. PROJECT OVERVIEW A new fire alarm system is required to be installed at Munson Memorial Library Building for full building coverage of fire alarms, smoke and carbon monoxide detection, signaling equipment (including one red outdoor rated signaling devise), and pull stations, where presently there is no fire alarm system. The Proposer is requested to furnish and install the necessary equipment to provide secure and reliable point-to-point alarm communication. The Proposer shall provide all equipment, materials, and labor to design and install said system. The Fire Alarm will be compliant with applicable fire safety and electrical code(s), including but not limited to: NFPA 72-2013, NFPA 70, and 527 CMR 1.0. The Proposer shall provide all equipment, materials, and labor to protect existing finishes from damage during installation processes. All work shall minimize disturbance to areas beyond the specific work zone. The Proposer shall ensure surfaces are left clean at the completion of the work and all construction activity debris be properly disposed of. All work shall be performed in compliance with DLS-MA lead safe regulations. Proposers must supply products and services that meet or exceed the requirements of this RFP. In the event of a dispute over installation or performance the needs of the Town of Amherst will govern. The fire alarm system project does not include ongoing fire alarm monitoring or preventive and ongoing maintenance. The Munson Memorial Library Building is operated as a library, meeting room, and mixed-use facility. The fire panel will improve the safety of employees and visitors of the buildings. The library is occupied Monday thru Saturday for various times throughout the day. All work is to be scheduled through the Town of Amherst prior to scheduling as to minimize program disruptions. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a payment bond in the amount of fifty percent (50%) of the contract award, not later than ten (10) working days after the award notification. Bonds will be for one (1) year and shall be renewed annually at the Contractor's expenses. All bids submitted shall be binding upon the bidder for a minimum period of sixty (60) calendar days following the opening of bids. Town of Amherst reserves the right to reject any and all bids in whole or in part, and to waive informalities, when at its sole discretion is deemed to be in the best interests of the Town and to the extent permitted by law.
