The address is 418 Main St and the altitude is 9,723 feet. The Town of South Park City (Fairplay) deeded the land that the Old Park County Courthouse stands on to Park County on January 7, 1873. Park County Department of Heritage & Tourism acquired the historic the Old County Courthouse in 2012 in partnership with South Park National Heritage Area, occupies and maintains the Courthouse building for use as offices and headquarters. Prior to acquisition, the building served as Park County Court from its construction in 1874 to 1965. Park County Public Library repurposed the Old Courthouse, and occupied it until 2010. The Old County Courthouse suffers from years of deferred maintenance and severe weather. Park County wishes to preserve and rehabilitate the structure for continued uses, including existing offices and meeting space, and use to engage public involvement in County history. Rehabilitation, and maintenance plans requires that all work is sympathetic to the historic character of the existing buildings, per Secretary of Interiors Standards for Rehabilitation.
