Reconstruction of the NW Irvinedale Drive and NW 18th Street intersection to improve traffic capacity, mobility and safety. It is anticipated that dedicated left and right turn lanes will be provided at all four legs of the intersection. Traffic signal improvements will also be needed to accommodate the new turn lanes. The reconstruction will provide an urban cross section on all legs of the intersection. Storm sewer infrastructure and subdrain are also included with the proposed improvements. NW Irvinedale Drive and NW 18th Street are arterial streets that serve a large portion of the northwest part of the City. This segment of NW Irvinedale Drive is currently a two-lane rural section with old asphalt pavement. The intersection's current geometry creates bottlenecks at times due to the lack of left and right turn lanes and there are some locations along NW Irvinedale Drive with steep side slopes which are considered potential safety issues. The continued growth on the City's northwest side will likely require improving the NW Irvinedale Drive and NW 18th Street intersection within the next several years. As December 22, 2022, this project is currently in the FY 2023 - 2027 CIP. Funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction FY 2025. A firm timeline has not been established; however, construction is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2025. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
