As of July 23, 2020 the award is confirmed for this project. Main components of work involve the completion of an approximately 0.5-mile trail that is a combination of limestone screenings and asphalt surfaced trail, within St. James Farm Forest Preserve, located in Warrenville, Illinois. The major components of work include 1,870 CY of total earthwork; placement of 1,900 SY of limestone screenings at 2" depth; placement of 850 SY of hot-mix asphalt with asphaltic emulsion slurry coat, and placement of 725 CY of aggregate base (CA-6). Additional components of work includes, installation of District standard VI Sign and other miscellaneous amenities; installation of 4,350 LF of erosion control barrier and 1,150 LF temporary fence; installation of 90 LF of RCP culverts and 2 sub-surface drainage seams; installation, removal, and restoration of stabilized construction entrance; and miscellaneous tree removals and pruning. Restoration component of the job include, seeding approximately 1.35-acres of trail shoulders and disturbed areas; and installation of 1,700 SY of erosion control blanket and 1-acre of IDOT Mulch Method 3A. Consideration of contract award will likely be made on Tuesday, July 21, 2020. This project is being financed, in part, with federal funds from the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) and is subject to the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act, 820 ILCS 130/0.01 et seq. Also, the Contractor shall abide by the "Employment of Illinois Workers on Public Works Act" (30 ILCS 570, sec 1-7). Minority business firms are encouraged to submit bids on the project and successful contract bidders are encouraged to utilize minority businesses as subcontractors for supplies, equipment, services and construction. The Forest Preserve Commission reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities.
