This is the annual program for drainage improvements to decrease flooding at low points. Low point drainage improvements are not only focused on residential street locations, but specifically on those locations most in need of the improvements as affected by standing water, flooding, and insufficient pipe capacity. The program identifies core locations for improvements each year. In addition, improvements are made at miscellaneous locations identified throughout the year. During heavy rain, some areas become flooded, and damage to private property occasionally occurs. This program provides for installation of drainage improvements to decrease this flooding at low points. In 1994, the following criteria were established for evaluating and prioritizing drainage situations: 1) Potential damage from storm runoff; 2) Emergency vehicle access limitations created by runoff; 3) Number of people affected; 4) Number of structures affected; 5) Street classification; 6) Land use; and 7) Benefits of a project to adjacent areas. Based on these criteria, target areas for improvements are established. These improvements may include construction of detention areas, new pipe systems, and replacement systems to increase the ability to control the runoff so it can be carried by downstream systems. The 2024/25 scope includes South of Ken Maril Road (extend earthen berm behind 300/400 block), East Lincoln Way (near 2005/2017 E. Lincoln Way), Hoover Avenue/Adams Street intersection, Garnet Drive/Meadow Place intersection, and South Dayton Avenue/Isaac Newton Drive intersection. As of July 13, 2022, this project is currently in the FY 2022-2027 CIP . Funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction Fy 2024. A firm timeline has not been established; however, construction is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2024. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available. As of August 22, 2023, no new information available
