As of September 24 2024 this project is in design, As of June 18, 2024, an engineer has been selected for the study. A firm timeline for construction has not been established. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The City of Charleston (City) is seeking an engineering Firm to complete a design for a drainage improvement project by developing a new storm drainage conveyance system to create an additional outfall for the Windermere Neighborhood drainage basin. The new outfall will help to alleviate capacity issues at the existing outfall on William Ackerman Ln. The project area is located in the Windermere East drainage basin south of Savannah Highway (US Hwy 17) and to the west of Wesley Dr/Folly Road Blvd in the Old Windermere Neighborhood. This drainage basin is approximately 108 acres and currently outfalls through one (1) 24" RCP on William Ackerman Ln into a tidal creek of Wappoo Creek behind the South Windermere Center. This outfall pipe does not have sufficient capacity to convey large storm events through the Windermere Neighborhood. This project is to design an additional outfall conveyance to provide additional capacity for the neighborhood. The designed system is expected to require conveyance, storage capacities, and water quality improvement for a functional design. The City has developed a conceptual plan for the additional outfall and its conveyance system. It will be the selected Firm's responsibility to design an approach for improvements, obtain the necessary permits, and prepare construction plans and drawings for bid. Work is expected to include easement coordination and acquisition services; hydrologic and hydraulic modeling; stormwater design and permitting; permitting through SCDOT; plan and permitting coordination with CWS and other utilities; preparation of construction plans and bid documents; and bid phase support. Survey data has been previously obtained by the City and will be available to the selected firm. The Consultant should have the ability to meet Minority & Women-Owned Business Enterprise goals established by the City. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
