This Request for Supplier Qualifications ("RFSQ") is an invitation by MacEwan University to prospective Respondents to qualify for eligibility to provide General Contractor services to construct the School of Business (SB) capital construction project at MacEwan University. The purpose of this RFSQ is to present an opportunity for General Contractors to submit the qualifications of their company and team to undertake the School of Business project. MacEwan will evaluate in accordance with the qualification criteria outlined in Section F of the RFSQ Particulars (Appendix A) and shortlist Respondents that MacEwan deems best able to construct the new SB building in accordance with the qualification criteria. This RFSQ is the first stage of an intended two (2) stage process to select and contract with a General Contractor, acting as a Prime Contractor, to construct the new SB at MacEwan. The first stage will involve a shortlisting of qualified Respondents. The second stage will be an invitational tender to the prequalified Respondents following which MacEwan University will select the successful bidder. The SB building will be located on the southeast corner of 105 Avenue and 109 Street, north of the Christenson Family Centre for Sport and Wellness and the SAMU Building. The building is a 35,000 sqm - 7 storey building with an additional mezzanine level, one level of sub-structure (parkade), and a mechanical penthouse. The central east/west connecting atrium creates opportunities for connectivity and exchange between floors, connecting the east main entrance with the campus entrance on the east and through to campus by pedway. The scope also includes modifications to an existing building 108 to accommodate the pedway connection. The atrium serves as a gathering space and circulation, allowing building users to connect, flow, and gather. It also brings daylight into the heart of the building. Elevator and stair cores are placed to provide ease of access and movement. Public-facing amenities like the cafe are located on the ground floor to draw people in and provide vibrant public community space. The upper floors are organized around an interconnected floor space that accommodates classrooms, faculty and administrative offices, and shelled-in space for future growth.
