i) Scope of Contract (1) The City of College Station has a two-million-gallon elevated water storage tank, Green's Prairie EST, that is to be rehabilitated and repainted, and a new valve installed with a concrete valve vault under the terms of this contract. General information on the tank is provided at the end of this document in the Engineering Reports of Inspection. The work to be performed under these specifications includes the rehabilitation, repainting and structural steel repairs of the water storage tank. (2) The hydropillar style tank is located at 985 William D Fitch Pkwy College Station, Texas 77845. Containment is required during exterior abrasive blasting operations to protect the environment. The existing protective coating systems contain less than 1% lead by weight. (3) It shall be the responsibility of the bidders to carefully inspect the sites and all pertinent parts and devices on the tanks to ascertain the quantity of surface preparation, necessary repairs and painting required to clean the tanks properly, paint, repair and place the tanks back into operation in accordance with these contract specifications. The information on the tanks provided in the Engineer's Reports of Inspection is general in nature and should not be relied upon to determine bid quantities or other bidding factors. The project consists of rehabilitation and repainting of the elevated water tank & column, providing containment for the tank during rehab work, installation of climbing safety devices, repair and replacement of various components of the tank, installation of an MOV (Motor Operated Valve) and vault, and other items as specified in the plans and specifications.
