The Bowmanville hospital redevelopment and expansion part of the province's Durham region - will undergo a redevelopment to replace the existing North wing of the hospital. The redevelopment plan includes the construction of a new hospital wing, which will replace the existing north wing, along with a new emergency department, surgical services, critical care unit, inpatient units and diagnostic imaging. The scope of work includes a multi-phased approach to allow for replacement of infrastructure that is at end of life and support space requirements. Where appropriate, existing infrastructure is leveraged for continued use. The phased approach allows for the provision of ongoing clinical services during construction. TIMELINE: An RFP for planning, design, and conformance (“PDC”) consulting services has been issued by the owner. $5m support from the Municipality and support for up to $37.5m from the Region. $2.5m Ministry of Health Planning Grant for Stage 2 - Functional Programming. Construction is not expected until 2025/2026. The planning and approvals processes are expected to take at least two more years to complete. Further update will be made upon award of contract, anticipated January 2024. *Addendums 1 & 2 have been posted. *Official bid documents must be obtained from www.merx.com and bid submissions must be done through the Merx platform. *Estimated design & construction cost $200-499 million.
