The objective of this Pre-qualification call is to invite General Contractors to provide submissions to qualify to bid on the Construction of Howden Recreation Centre. The City expects that General Contractors have the ability, experience, equipment and financial stability to enable them to perform and satisfactorily complete the work as outlined in the specifications. Redevelopment of the Howden Recreational Centre site is part of a larger strategic plan; the Bramalea Recreation Centre Renewal Strategy. The existing Howden Recreation Centre facility has been demolished in 2021 as part of this project. The new recreation centre will have an approximate gross floor area of 3,857 sq.m. (41,516 sq. ft.). This will increase the City's recreation programming at this site by approximately 1,961 sq.m. (21,108 sq.ft.). The new Recreation Centre will house both indoor and outdoor multi-sport courts, a fitness/studio space and a variety of multi-purpose rooms that will create vibrancy, increase programming activity and allow for additional active living choices in the Bramalea area. Space will also be provided for YMCA daycare services. Substantial Performance of Work shall be by December 31, 2026.
